Established in 1896, NFPA is the world's leading advocate of fire prevention and one of the most authoritative sources on public safety. With more than 36,000 members worldwide, the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) is the largest organization for security professionals. Dating back to 1955, ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by developing educational programs and materials that address broad security interests.
NICET defines engineering technicians as the "hands-on" members of the engineering team who work under the direction of engineers, scientists, and technologists. They have an advanced knowledge of the components, operating characteristics, and limitations of engineering systems and processes particular to their area of specialization. Since 1961, more than 121,000 technicians and technologists have met NICET's rigorous certification criteria in a variety of specialty fields.
